One of my favorite things about being a photographer is all the new people I get to meet. And this family was amazing, to say the least. So patient, and full of joy, even after 90 minutes and two lost balloons.

The day started out sunny and 70º, but shortly before we started shooting, the sky became overcast and the wind picked up. As the family arrived we joked around about it, but I was secretly nervous they would want to reschedule. After all, they had a baby to keep warm. But as we quickly got to know each other, I realized I had nothing to worry about, as they were so peaceful and happy the whole time. And even though the wind didn't die down, it was still warm enough for the kids to play.

So, play, they did while I photographed away, and I'm so glad we did because it turned out to be so fun.

I love to capture the perfect moment. I believe that this was one of those moments that could be easily missed.

A couple of last weeks shots.

Mr. Elijah who just turned 1. Dirty faces and playing in the sand, make great photos.

Getting my subjects in a fun and natural setting makes for great images. I love to snap the shutter when they're least expecting it; this makes for a natural looking image . . . not that funny unnatural smile.

Sometimes you get the best photos when they are unplanned, or candid. Photography doesn't have to be about what, where, and when. Photography should be enjoyable and relaxing. I love lifestyle photography because everyday brings something new and fresh. 

This is a lifestyle photograph that I did a week ago. This kid is so photogenic, but if he does a posed smile, he has a growl, scowl, one eye open, squint, super hero, or tough guy look. I love to photograph my clients in the moment. I give this kid a cowboy hat, rope, and steer head, and -voilà- a beautiful lifestyle portrait. If a subject is photographed doing something they love, their expression is so much more real and natural. I believe that if a client is in a natural and relaxed setting, there is something magical that happens.
